J-Quiz 2019

On Saturday, February 16th, 2019, high school students from all over Minnesota will gather together to put their knowledge of Japanese Language and Culture to the test!

Teams of students from each school will compete in 4 levels of difficulty. Students will first write an essay, then participate in a preliminary round of questions regarding Japanese Language and Culture. The winners of the Final Rounds are sent to Washington D.C. to compete in the national Japan Bowl and attend the Sakura Festival.

This year again, we are inviting the family of the students, and anyone interested to come and watch the Final Rounds of J-Quiz!

Events in bold letters are open to the public for observation.
7:30 am – 7:55 am Registration
8:00 am – 8:20 am Opening Ceremony
8:30 am – 9:30 am Project
9:40 am – 10:30 am Preliminary Round and Culture Class
10:40 am – 11:30 am Preliminary Round and Culture Class
11:30 am – 12:20 pm Lunch
12:20 pm – 12:30 pm  Level Ⅰ Award Presentation
12:30 pm – 3:20 pm Final Rounds
3:20 pm – 3:40 pm Closing Ceremony & Award Presentation

The Final Rounds and Cultural programs are open to the public to enjoy! All events open to the public are in the Lorenz Auditorium in the Fine Arts Building.

Volunteer Opportunity:
JASM is also seeking volunteers for J-Quiz 2019. The only prerequisite is that you have to be a high school graduate. Volunteers must attend a 60-minute workshop on Monday, February 4, or on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, to be qualified. More details can be found on the Online Volunteer Sign Up Form.


JASM is looking for donations of Japan-related items to sell at our JASM Market during J-Quiz. The money that is raised will be used to fund JASM’s programs that further promote the understanding between Japanese and Minnesotans.
